Application Requirements & Documentation

All information on this page should be thoroughly reviewed before turning in an Application Packet

 

Applicants may either download an Application Packet below or obtain an Application Packet from the City of Macomb Mayor's Office


 

  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and no more than 35 years of age at the time of application acceptance except as provided in Section 5/10-2.1-1.4 of the Fire and Police Commissioners Act.*

  • Applicants must have a minimum vision acuity of 20/20 in each eye (may be corrected) with normal color vision and depth perception.

  • Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Applicants must pass required physical and written exams, medical and psychological evaluations, and a background investigation.

 

  • Applicants must have 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of college.

  • If hired Applicants must establish residency in McDonough County within 18 months from hire date.

* This bill allows military veterans applying for a police department position to exceed the maximum age provision of the statutes by the number of years served on active military duty but not to exceed a maximum of 10 years.
